First National Bank North Platte has many security measures and safeguards in place to ensure your accounts and credit are protected. In addition to using Online Banking, you can take other steps to help protect yourself. We'd like to provide you with these tips so that we can work together to prevent fraud.
- As soon as you receive your card, be sure to sign on the back of your card in the signature panel.
- Do not share your account numbers with anyone besides those individuals that are on your account.
- Do not share your PIN (personal identification number) with anyone. Memorize your PIN; never write it on your card or keep it in your purse or wallet.
- Do not lend your ATM or credit card to anyone and always keep your card in a safe and secure location.
- When your card has expired and you have received your new card, be sure to destroy your old card.
- Store new and cancelled checks and any other documents that contain your account number in a safe place or make sure that they are disposed of properly.
- Monitor your Visa® Check Card, ATM card and credit card transactions often to ensure that there are no unauthorized transactions.
- When using your card at a merchant, be sure that your card is returned and that you receive a copy of your receipt. When the receipt is no longer needed be sure to shred or destroy it.
- Keep a list of all Visa® Check Card, ATM card and credit card accounts in the event your wallet is lost or stolen.
- Always pay attention to the surroundings when approaching an ATM. Make sure that the ATM is located in an open and well-lighted location. Remember to take your receipt, card, and cash and leave immediately. Wait to count your cash until you're in a safe location away from the ATM.
- Report lost or stolen checks, check cards, ATM cards or credit cards immediately.
- When viewing account information online, completely log off after each online session. For security purposes, Online Banking provides a log off link as well as automatically logging you off after 10 minutes of inactivity.
- Subscribe to a credit monitoring service. This type of services will help protect you and notify you immediately if there are any activities on your accounts that you need to be aware of.
